Step Back In Time With Historic Suffragette Films

Mon, 1 Feb 2016

We are very fortunate to have secured some fantastic short archive films documenting the historic Suffragette movement thanks to BFI’s Britain on Film project screening in conjunction with Suffragette this season.

Watch out for the following three short films fom the regional & national archives screening ahead of hit British feature film Suffragette at Cine North venues in Yorkshire & Cumbria:

Mass Meeting of Suffragettes (1910)
In Trafalgar Square; women standing with placards advertising the numerical support given to the National Union of Women's Suffragette Societies by men.

Bolton Election Result (1912)
Includes Suffragists addressing mill girls in a by-election campaign in Bolton.

Will There Be Women M.P.s? Topical Budget 324-2 (1917)
Mrs Pankhurst (Emmeline), `General' Drummond, Miss Christabel Pankhurst and Miss Kenny met with wild enthusiasm at the meeting held at Queens Hall to found a Womens Parliamentary Party"
