Selby Globe Community Cinema Presents Silver Screen!

Thu, 1 Sep 2011

Selby Globe Community Cinema was born from a love of film and lack of cinema provision in the Selby area that spanned over 30 years. Run entirely by volunteers on a mission to extend the provision of film in Selby and surrounding villages, the group has welcomed over 5000 people through the doors since their first sell out event - a sing-along screening of Mamma Mia at the town hall in September 2009.

A recent addition to the programme is the Silver Screen strand for over 50s, which takes place on the third Thursday of every month from 10am. Silver Screen has quickly become a must attend social occasion for the local community, who can enjoy lunch with fellow cinema goers after the screening. Selby Globe Community Cinema shows a range of classic, modern and sing-along films for all ages, now screened on top quality HD cinema equipment provided by Cine Yorkshire. The next Silver Screen event is Vertigo on Thursday 20th October at Selby Town Hall, 10am. View more upcoming listings for Selby Globe Community Cinema here.
